Before starting any improvement to your property, including new buildings, replacing items such as fences, walkways/driveways, installing outbuildings, or other construction, homeowners must consult covenants and restrictions for community standards and guidelines.
If the improvement is permitted under the standards and guidelines, homeowners must then complete and submit an ACC request form. Approval by the ACC committee is required before construction begins. The review process may take up to two weeks, so please allow ample time.
In 2022, Senate Bill 1588 stipulated that HOA Board Members may not be involved in reviewing/approving construction and improvements. The ACC is a group of WPA homeowner-volunteers who serve as a review committee and work to uphold the community standards set out in our covenants and restrictions.
Construction that has not been properly approved may cause issues and delays when homeowners want to sell their property. Prior to a sale, the WPA is required by law to provide a resale certificate for each property, which includes identifying items that are not in compliance with covenants and restrictions.
